IDEIA

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which was amended in 2004, ensures that all children with disabilities receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE). IDEIA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act)  emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet a child’s unique educational needs and preparation for employment and independent living. One of the major intents of the new IDEA 2004 amendments was to strengthen the role of parents. This ensures that families of children with disabilities have meaningful opportunities to participate in the education of their children.
