Tech Department launches Helpdesk
The quickest and easiest way for you to get technology help is to email helpdesk@clevelandschools.org.     We do not have personnel to man phone lines yet, but if it is a real emergency call 476-1160 and ask for some in the technology department.

Planning for the Future
Fiber project begins to expand bandwidth for future use.
In August of 2007, we will have fiber serving our bandwidth needs between our Network Operations Center(NOC) and CHS and CMS, all elementary schools..
This will open the door to more online and video applications that we currently cannot support because of bandwidth issues.
One of the resources that is being talked about as being made available to K-20 is Internet2.   At the present time it is only available to colleges and universities.  The links below will give you additional information on what Internet2 is, who is using it currently and how it will impact the technology of the future.

AYP
Congratulations to all of our schools for making AYP this year.  We would like to think that the dedication of our teaching professionals combined with  technology tools and curriculum programs like Successmaker and NovaNet  are making a difference.

Atomic Learning now offering Spanish Tutorials
www.atomiclearning.com has added many new tutorials bringing their total to 9000 on 56 computer software products since we signed up to offer this resource to our students, teachers and parents.  They have continued to build a staff development section and have now posted tutorials for the most popular office products in Spanish.  Call your school for your ID and Password.

SAFE SEARCH ENGINE
Tired of your internet searches retrieving 100,000+ pages of irrelevant information?
Tired of clicking on page links only to find it is just someone's opinion?  The State of Tennessee has purchased netTrekker for teachers, students and parents.  This will allow safe, relevant search results that are tied directly to state standards.
Watch for information from your child’s school that will show you how to sign up and use this
valuable resource.

Online Training for Teachers, Students, and Parents
The Technology Department and the Staff Development Department combined to offer an online training opportunity for our staff, students and parents.   Over 9000 tutorials in 56 software packages are available.  Training is included on all the popular Microsoft products, web design products, and multimedia applications for both the PC and Macintosh platforms.    You may visit www.atomiclearning.com and take a free tour.  If you want to go beyond the tour, you will need the ID and Password assigned to your school or the school of your child.  You may contact your school secretary for these.

Online Information for Parents
Cleveland High School and Cleveland Middle School are using K12 Planet as a tool to provide attendance and grade information to parents online.  The program allows parents to log on to their child's information and see assignments, grades, and attendance figures at any time.

Parents must fill out a permission form to allow participation in this program.  Click the name of the school or check the Cleveland High School and Cleveland Middle School web sites for this form, or watch for correspondence from your child’s school.  A users guide is available online for parents and an information guide on protecting a child's privacy.
