Spyware-Malware
Information
Standards for donated or purchased computers.
iFolder is a new way to keep your documents
in a place on a server which will allow you to access them from home.
In order to do this you must install iFolder on both your school and home
computer. You may use the links below to get instructions for
installing iFolder at school
and installing iFolder at
home. Sorry, PC only right now.
We are protected by Central Command's Virexa solution systemwide.
When you start your computer and enter your Novell login your machine
automatically receives the up to date virus definition files it needs to
scan your computer. Please do not cancel your Novell login.
Please do not cancel the automatic scan that runs sometime during your work
day. It will run in the background and not interfere with work you are
doing.
This is available for any teacher or employee who does not
have virus protection on their home computer. Contact Joan Bradburn for
instructions. jbradburn@clevelandschools.org
PROTECT YOURSELF
It is extremely important that all users install their Windows updates on
a regular basis. These updates from Microsoft help close programming
gaps that allow virus infections on machines. They are downloaded
automatically, but you have to click the icon to install them. Be sure
to run Norton's Live Update to make sure that your virus definition files
are current. This doesn't happen automatically. YOU, the end
user, must intervene. New operating systems can be set to do this
automatically. If you have XP or Win2000, contact your David or Carl
at the Tech Department to help you with those settings.
POP-UP Ad Utilities
Some of you are experiencing Pop-up ads while surfing the net.
We have
2 downloads (POWI and
SPYBOTSD12) that can help stop
these. Contact the Cleveland City Schools
Technology Department if you are experiencing these problems.
